Event detail:

Within the framework of the project “Transition to Sustainable Rice Production in Latin America,” funded by the Global Methane Hub, we have evaluated sustainable practices and their impact on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in rice systems in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Uruguay over two growing seasons. Now it is time to share the main lessons learned and progress achieved. In this webinar, we will present preliminary results, field experiences, and the challenges associated with implementing mitigation practices in the region's rice sector. The event will feature the participation of the Director General of IICA, representatives from the Global Methane Hub, and researchers from IRGA, INIA Chile, INIA Uruguay, and EPAGRI. The session will cover the project's progress at the regional level, the results obtained in each country regarding sustainable practices and emissions calculations, the development of a monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) mechanism for sustainable rice, and will include a Q&A session with participants. This event is aimed at researchers, technicians, producer organizations, public institutions and actors linked to climate finance and agricultural sustainability.
